My First Pulp Figures

Okay I have been a little slow on the go on here, busy with work, the home life and a family illness.

I received my first Pulp Figures from Brigade Games http://brigadegames.3dcartstores.com/ some short time ago, and just now getting around to posting about their 15mm figures. They are some great looking figures nice clean lines and details They should look really well on the gaming table.

Brigade Games Set 1.

Woman Adventure.

Big Game Hunter.

Adventurer in long coat.
Adventurer with shotgun.

Arab henchman.

Japanese Henchman.

Go To Guy with Monkey on his shoulder. ( could be your Sidekick, Villain or any other person you could think of)

The Officer, could be a Merchant Ship Captain, American Officer, German Officer, U-Boat Captain.

Brigade Games Set 2.

Madam.

Geisha Girl.

Mad Scientist.

WWI German Officer (more likely I will use him as a retired Officer, as a German Inspector or as a go to guy)

So there you are, I would recommend anyone interested in pulp figures in the 15mm range Brigade Games has a really couple of nice sets to use.

So I have a good start I know I will need more and will have more to post.

I can't wait to get them based and painted, plus I can't wait to order more figures and get gaming.

New Ventures

I'm getting ready to dive into a new area of gaming for me "Pulp" gaming, you can find the rules and more here http://pulpalley.com/ , I have heard a lot of a gaming system called "Pulp Alley", to which you make leagues, Hero, Side Kick, Ally and Followers. Based on a point system for building your league plus special abilities.

Photo from "Pulp Alley"

I love the idea of playing out such plots you may have seem in some of your favorite movies or read in your favorite pulp adventure books. I'm also looking forward to building all kinds of terrain for it as well, from jungles to pyramids, looking for treasure or foiling the bad guys plans, or investigating things that go bump in the night.

The challenge for myself is there is a lot of stuff out there for those who play in the 28mm range for myself I will be playing it in the 15mm range and will be enjoying the hunt for all the figures and vehicles to be used in play. For which I will post every location i find for pulp gaming in the 15mm range here and compile a list here for those who may be interested.

My first set of miniatures for pulp gaming are coming from Brigade Games
http://brigadegames.3dcartstores.com/ they only have two set of figure in 15mm one set has eight figures and the other has four which I have both on the way as of the moment. I will post them when they come in.

STAR SHIP IDEA!

OH MY GOD! BECKY LOOK AT THE SIZE OF HER SHIP, HAVE YOU EVER SEE A SHIP THAT BIG, IT'S LIKE HUGE!

Okay so I was cruising the thrift store when  I spied this S.H.I.E.L.D. Helocarrier still new and in the box and thought  (cue Music) "OH Yeah, Bomp Bomp"

Okay this would make for a great center piece of terrain for any gaming table.

Now this thing is big in fact for a gaming table it huge! It's just over 3 feet long! My ideas are for RPG games, but could also be used for table to war gaming as well.

Now you can see from the pictures below that it will need a lot of conversion work to be done. Plus to give you a better idea of it's size all the figures on the main deck are Khurasan's Ship Crew and those on the cutting mat a 15mm.co.uk figures and vehicles.

I didn't add all the little parts just the main stuff

It's really big

Main deck

Main deck and tower

Side view lots of room underneath it

Middle of main deck

Rear main deck

Rear landing gear

Front landing gear

Front nose area

One of many bucket style catwalks

Vehicle on main deck

Almost as big as the coffee table!

Now I think it needs a large box cargo holding area on it's under belly, just to give it the appearance that it can hold a lot of cargo or vehicles, plus some sort of engine area in the rear of it again this is only to give the look of just being big and maybe another level added to the upper deck with sectioned off  rooms and alike with a removable roof,

Twilight 2000 Figures

Twilight 2000 RPG game.

I enjoy playing even if it is an Old School kind of game, I like the break sometimes from the far future Sci-Fi games, and the Zombie games, Plus I like the world gone to hell in a hand basket kind of game, no electric, fuel on the very short side, foraging for food, supplies, equipment, and weapons and ammo and trying to keep it all, plus working to a sort of a point to rebuild a life and venturing out to make it all happen.

Again I have always had fun playing this game and as I moved from paper and pencil to more figures I'm always on the lookout for more figures.

Here are some great places for such figure that are great for gaming with.

Fighting 15s Models carries a few really good ones of Oddzial Osmy http://fighting15sshop.co.uk/ at the Sci-fi section check out the Insurgents.

Old Glory of the UK. Has armed civilians http://oldgloryuk.com/ under their 15mm range in the modern section. As with Old Glory of the US http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/index.asp

Rebel Minis has a section of modern troops,  http://www.rebelminis.com/index.html. their African soldiers would work very well for many gaming situations.

Another great place is Peter Pig miniatures http://www.peterpig.co.uk/ as well a rather large range in the AK47 section.

Now of course they all carry a wide range of modern soldiers too that can be use as well, as well as many other companies not mentioned.

QRF miniatures http://quickreactionforce.co.uk/ carries a large line of modern vehicles.

Irishserb's Miniatures http://sites.google.com/site/irishserbsminiatures/ has a nice selection of vehicles as well though the line is small they are some really nice models and priced well too.

MJ Figures http://mjfigures.co.uk/ handle a nice range of modern weapons great for making supply points, or weapons shops in small towns

This is just a small list of sites, that I feel that have lots of great potential for miniature gaming for Twilight 2000 if this is a game for you.

Thanks for reading.

Travellar Project

For all the Traveller Fans out there.

So I got the idea from one of the guys at The Miniatures Page who has been posting his ideas of deck plans of Traveller ships, looking at his great work he has been doing when it hit me PVC!!!

So I got a 2 inch cap.

A 2 inch to 1 and 3/4 inch reducer.

A section of two inch PVC pipe.

Six inches long

Put them all together and you have a Launch ship or a Ship's Boat and with some added work you could make a Pinnace ship.

Of course I have to add landing gears and some work as far as panels and alike, plus add widows but here's an idea of size.

The figure is 15mm.co.uk and the vehicle is as well their Hover Support Wagon.

This project is on hold for now until we move and sorry about the poor pictures most everything is packed up and had to use the coffee table.

Hope this will inspire you to make your own ships and gives you something for your gaming fun!

Dollar Tree Find!

Okay this is a quick posting.

Went to the Dollar Tree store today and while looking around came across these ceramic Halloween haunted houses that seem to be about the right scale for 15mm gaming, there is a set of six in all, four houses, a church and a lighthouse. They are of a the victorian style

As one can see in the photos you can have a nice little setting in no time, fighting Zombies in the old section of your town or city, or Post Apocalyptic setting, or running for your life in your favorite horror setting.

You can repaint them if you wish or just use as is.

Just reminding again they are ceramic

What to Do?

Okay picked up a few of these things okay it was about a dozen of them at the junk store and now it's time to figure out what to do with them.

Okay the paper stand-in next to the thing, the figure it's self is about 17mm and the rest is a little taller as to gives it some scale of size.

The egg thing is 2 and 3/4 inches tall or 70mm and 2 inches wide or 50mm

Laying on it's side

View of the bottom

Thoughts so far are;

  • Escape Pod
  • Habitat Module
Still thinking of other ideas.

Back to the Drawing Board

Well the deal for the new house fell through, seems the title was not free and clear and had issues with it's title, so back to the hunt, so things are still on hold. This really sucks!!

I have ordered some new stuff and will be posting them as they come in. As far as painting and building goes that's all on hold a lot of stuff is packed up and ready to move.

So the new gaming room is on hold for now but it will come, I have plans for the decor of the room in my mind and can't wait to put it in to action!

The basic room will have 6" boards for molding at the top and bottom with 6" boards space "X" apart depending on room size "T's" will be cut and "X" holes drilled in to them, then mounted at  horizontal and vertical intersections of 6" boards then round top wood plugs will go in the holes then all will be painted to give the look of steel post and beams with rivets.

Armed Civilians Review

This is going to be my first real write up about figures and hopefully real useful information for those of interest, so bare with me.

Armed Civilians from Old Glory UK http://www.oldgloryuk.com/ under the 15mm modern range.

Photo from Old Glory UK

Okay so I inquired around about these guys and no one seemed to be able to give me much on any details about them, so I ordered a set to see how they are for myself. I thought that they would become very useful in many gaming areas.

Cost; 11 British Pounds,  about $24 in US Dollars in all which included the shipping cost, for fifty figures (50), a nice deal there.

Shipping; Ten days from order to delivery, from the UK to the Midwest of the US. Nice and fast

Poses; Ten different poses, and it is a mix in the numbers of each that you may receive,
  • five (5) poses with AKs,
  • one (1) pose with rifle with sight,
  • one (1) pose with LMG,
  • one (1) pose with RPG,
  • one (1) pose with shoulder fire ground to air missile launcher
  • one (1) pose throwing Molotov Cocktail

Molding; Very little to no flash at all some lite molding lines but very easy to clean up, bottom of the bases may need some lite filing or sanding. The details are nice as well just hard to see in the photos

Comparison to other figures.

OG UK,   Splinter Light,   OG UK,   GZG,   OG UK

Game uses;
Post Apocalyptic Survivors/Gangs
Zombie Survivors
Insurgents
Street Gangs
Modern Pirates
Militias (from most anywhere around the world)

Future plans; Some head swaps and weapon swaps for a greater look in diversity. Will be getting heads for swapping out from Peter Pig http://www.peterpig.co.uk/ under Heads and Odds and weapons from MJ Miniatures http://mjfigures.co.uk/ in the 15mm range accessories. Green Stuff for adding pouches, nap sacks, bandoleers and bed rolls. These will be a later post so keep watching for them. .

Finial Note; I am very pleased with them and can't wait to get around to them and get them into the games
I would recommend them for anyone interested in gaming in the areas I have mentioned above.

I hope anyone interested in them will find my findings helpful
